35 Years of Fighting
HIV/AIDS in San Diego

"The San Diego HIV Funding Collaborative brings together funders, advocates, and community partners to support comprehensive HIV prevention, care, and treatment services across our region."

Since 1990, the collaborative has been a cornerstone of HIV/AIDS support in San Diego County. Through strategic partnerships and committed philanthropy, we've distributed over $3 million to organizations working to reduce the impact of HIV and improve the lives of people living with AIDS.

What Makes Us Different

Collaborative
Funding Model

We don't work alone. By pooling resources from multiple funders including Think Red, Inc., legacy donors, and community supporters, we maximize impact and reduce administrative burden on service organizations.

Three
Funding Priorities

1. Strengthening Systems:
Building capacity at HIV/AIDS coordinated service sites

2. Prevention & Education:
Supporting outreach, testing, and education programs

3. Care & Treatment:
Funding direct services for people living with HIV/AIDS

The Fight Isn’t Over

While medical advances have transformed HIV from a death sentence to a manageable chronic condition, significant challenges remain:

Health
Disparities

HIV disproportionately impacts communities of color, transgender individuals, and low-income populations

Access
Barriers

Many people still face obstacles to testing, treatment, and comprehensive care

Stigma
Persists

Social stigma continues to prevent people from seeking help

Prevention
Gaps

New infections continue, particularly among young people and marginalized communities
The San Diego HIV Funding Collaborative addresses these challenges by funding organizations that provide culturally competent, accessible, stigma-free services across the full continuum of care.
